If you’re going to buy a house after 1st July 2019, I’d suggest reading till the end of the article.
There are a few Stamp Duty Exemption will be ended by 30th June 2019. And there are a few will be started effective 1st July 2019.
So, let’s talk about the one that will be ended soon by 30th June 2019.
1. The property stamp duty exemption for first-time house buyer buying property from a developer with Purchase Price RM300,000 to RM1,000,000.
2. The loan stamp duty exemption for first-time house buyer buying property from a developer with Purchase Price RM300,000 to RM2,500,000.
3. First-time house buyer buying a property more than RM1mio no longer enjoy an additional 1% exemption.
The stamp duty rates before 30th June 2019 is as below.
For the first RM100,000 is 1%
RM100,0001 to RM500,000 is 2%
RM500,001 to RM2,500,000 is 3%
>RM2,500,000 onward is 4%
The stamp duty rates effective 1st July 2019 is as below.
For the first RM100,000 is 1%
RM100,0001 to RM500,000 is 2%
RM500,001 to RM1,000,000 is 3%
>RM1,000,000 is 4%
4. The property & loan stamp duty exemption for first-time house buyer with Purchase Price below RM300,000.
Effective 1st July 2019, the following stamp duty will be applied.
1. The new property stamp duty rates will be as follow :
The stamp duty rates effective 1st July 2019 is as below.
For the first RM100,000 is 1%
RM100,0001 to RM500,000 is 2%
RM500,001 to RM1,000,000 is 3%
>RM1,000,000 is 4%
2. The property & loan stamp duty exemption for first-time house buyer with Purchase Price below RM500,000 for the first RM300,000 property and loan stamp duty.
So, these are the changes that will happen in July 2019.
Tip: If you’re signing a SPA below RM500,000 and a first-time house buyer, you might want to wait until 1st July 2019 to stamp the SPA and apply for the stamp duty exemption.
